July 29th, 30th & 31st

FRIDAY 7/29 - 6 PM - 400 meter swim * 11 mile bike * 2 mile trail run

400 meter swim * 11 mile bike * 2 mile trail run

Heads up!: The parking area at Herb Parsons Lake will fill and close early on each day. It is wise to arrive early.  Overflow parking will be on Lakeview Rd just a short distance north of the park entrance.

A few specifics for each race:

Sharpshooter Sprint - Friday night
  • 6 PM start.
  • Male award categories only in the Sharpshooter.
Annie Oakley Super Sprint - Saturday morning
  • 7:00 am start.  Transition area closes at 6:45am.
Showman Shooter Triathlon  - Sunday morning
  • 7:00 am start. Transition area closes at 6:45.
Swim: The clockwise swim course is a time-trial start with swimmers jumping off the pier one-at-a-time every 3 seconds.  This is the same format for all three races.

Swimmers exit the water and head up the sidewalk to the parking lot where the transition area is located.

BIKE - When you exit the park you will be greeted by a freshly PAVED Fisherville Rd!

At the 2 1/2 mile mark the bike course for all three races will turn right and head south on Hwy 196 for four miles.  Hwy 196 rolls but has no significant climbs.
**The Showman Shooter course has CHANGED for 2011.  Showman Shooter is TWO loops of the short course.

After four miles on Hwy 196 the bike course turns right onto Raleigh-LaGrange. From this intersection you have 4 1/2 miles to go.  This is a hilly stretch of road and cyclists should make sure they have something left in the tank for the last few miles.
Heads up: With 2 1/2 miles to go you will turn right off of Raleigh-LaGrange onto Fisherville Rd at this church.  Be sure you are in the correct gear when you make this turn in order to get up the short steep incline.
Fisherville Rd rolls all the way back to T2.  Just when you think you are done there is a another short steep hill just before you reach the park that is sure to get your attention.  Caution: After turning into the park there is a very slight downhill to the bike dismount line.  Take it easy over these last 100 yards.

The run begins with a 1/3 mile run across the levee towards the trails.
After crossing the levee you enter the woods.  The trail is in great shape and offers a slightly technical but very manageable loop.
Once you exit the woods you finish with the 1/4 mile run back across the levee to the finish line.

Herb Parsons Lake is a great race venue and offers some of the best trails in the area.  With three races over three days there is something for everyone.  The format also allows you to volunteer or stick around and cheer for your friends!

Post Race:  Enjoy the usual Start2Finish post-race celebration: Music& Food!
**NEW:   The Challenge!
Men have to compete in both the Sharpshooter Triathlon on Friday night and the Showman Shooter Triathlon on Sunday. Women have to compete in both the Annie Oakley Triathlon on Saturday and the Showman Shoot Triathlon on Sunday.  Participants will be scored based on the lowest cumulative time for both races.  A $500 cash prize purse will be awarded to the top 5 male and female winners.  Any participant who enters "the Challenge" will be eligible for some big time door prizes from our community partners.  To enter "The Challenge" all you have to do is sign up for each race individually and denote you wish to participant in "The Challenge".
